ABOUT ME

Family, writing, my pups, work, wellness, and community — not necessarily in any particular order, but those are the big rocks in my world.

I’m a creative marketing professional who loves branding, messaging, and design direction. Most of my career was spent at AOL (now Verizon Media), with two breaks in 2007 and 2010. During the second “sabbatical,” I started my own health coaching business and quickly realized how much I missed the structure, teamwork, and social aspects of the corporate environment. I returned to corporate life in 2011 and back to AOL in 2014. In 2019, I joined Strategic Education, Inc. running the in-house creative team. I now manage a team of 30 writers, designers and project managers...and I love my job.

A brand and user advocate, I nimbly balance business demands with customer needs. My superpowers are communication and connection. I thrive on fixing broken production processes and making high-volume teams efficient and happy. How? By keeping one eye on strategy and the other on driving tactics.

I’m a graduate of Marymount University in Arlington, Virginia with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Interior Design. My appreciation for and understanding of quality creative output stems from my education and early work in the world of corporate interiors where I designed spaces for Nicole Miller and Gateway computers, amongst others. More recently in 2023, I received my MBA from the Jack Welch Management Institute.

Friends and colleagues describe me as level-headed, disciplined, and dedicated. A champion for my team, we mutually respect and promote one another. I’m rational and inventive, making me an excellent problem solver and consensus builder.

A creature of habit, I rely on planning and balance to maintain the healthiest, happiest me. I’m passionate about writing and wellness and have started writing a self-improvement book that I hope to publish in the next few years.

A perfect day involves singing in the car with my daughter, getting out with my fur babies for a long walk, and writing something, whether that is an emotional personal essay or an especially effective email at work that evokes a response from my readers. Throw in a glass of red wine on the deck with my hubby and I'm a happy camper.

MY DESIGN PHILOSOPHY:

  • Functionality trumps aesthetics most of the time.

  • Testing helps takes the guesswork out of marketing.

  • Existing customers need to be courted as much as prospects.

  • Simplicity is king.

MY LEADERSHIP STYLE:

  • I lead by example and am blessed with discipline.

  • I stay calm under pressure, avoid swirl, but drive hard when required.

  • I listen empathically and decide with intention.
